Ukraine files lawsuit in ECHR against Russia

The complaint describes the violations of 71 political prisoners

Ukraine has filed a lawsuit in ECHR against Russia due to its violation of Ukrainian political prisoner’ rights. Ivan Lishchyna, Deputy of the Minister of Justice, Commissioner for ECHR cases claimed this on Facebook.

‘We have just filed a new international complaint in the European Court of Human Rights regarding the Ukrainian political prisoners of the Kremlin,’ Lishchyna claimed.

He noted that the complaint describes the violations of 71 political prisoners.

In particular, the Ukrainian Government states on the systemic violations of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms by the Russian side.

Concerning Klykh, Balukh, Kuku, and Litvinov, additional application have been filed under the Rule 39 of the provision of adequate health care and health information.

It is the sixth lawsuit filed against Russia by Ukraine. Two cases consider the annexation of Crimea and the violation of human rights on the peninsula. Two more consider violations in Donbas, and one lawsuit concerns the export of children group from Donbas to Russia.
