Ukrainian law enforcers extradited to France a citizen who is internationally wanted for fraud for a total of almost 200 million euros. This was stated in the message of the Security Service of Ukraine.
“The extradition check was completed regarding a citizen who was on the international wanted list for committing a number of fraudulent actions. The check showed no obstacles to his extradition to the French side," the report said.
Security Service reminded that in August 2017 law enforcement bodies detained a man who was wanted by French law enforcement agencies to serve a sentence for fraud in especially large amounts as part of an organized group.
During an extradition examination at prosecutor’s request, the examining judge applied the extradition arrest to the specified citizen. Thanks to this, on Wednesday he was actually handed over to the representatives of law enforcement bodies of France, the SBU press service added.
In addition, the information indicates that the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv region, together with the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, despite numerous lawsuits on the arrest of the detainee, neutralized all attempts to disrupt the extradition of the person to French Republic to serve a sentence.
As it was reported earlier Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak stands for stepping up the military cooperation between Ukraine and France. This was stated by the minister after his meeting with his French counterpart Sylvie Goulard.
