Ukraine extends preferential duties for import of goods from Russia

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended preferential duties for import of goods from the Russian Federation. The government made the respective decision on Thursday, December 2.

The application of preferential duties that were defined by the preferential tariff of Ukraine will be eligible until December 31, 2022. These concern imports of goods that come from Russia.

The explanatory note claims that since January 1, 2026, Russia unilaterally suspended the agreement on free trade zone within the CIS in relation to Ukraine, due to which the import tax is applied to Ukrainian goods at the rate of the Common European Economic Space tariff. Russia also applies other kinds of trade restrictions against Ukrainian goods.

In 2020, the Ukrainian government made the decision to introduce special duties for import of coal, diesel fuel and liquefied gas from Russia.
