On July 17, Ukraine, Russia and the EU will gather for the meeting on gas relations. Maroš Šefčovič, the Deputy European Commissioner for the Energy Union said this as quoted by the European Commission's press service.

'Constructive and stable cooperation in the energy area between Ukraine and Russia has the priority meaning for both countries and the EU alike. The need of the long-term transit of the Russian gas via Ukraine to the EU by a reliable, commercially viable route is an inseparable part of it', he said.

Sefcovic added that Ukrainian and Russian partners will be represented at the negotiations by respective governments and the commercial organizations.

According to him, trilateral negotiations are the most effective process to seek the solution of the problems regarding the gas transit across Ukraine after 2019.

As we reported earlier, the State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine released the data, which confirms that Ukraine's oil and gas producers have been especially active lately in terms of getting permissions for gas extraction. The State Service reported this as quoted by LB.ua news agency. Judging by the released information, the companies expand their old licenses and get the new ones in order to develop hydrocarbon deposits.
