The Embassy of Ukraine to the U.S. expressed its condolences to the family and friends of American Senator John McCain who died on Saturday, August 25. The agency posted the relevant claim on Facebook.
'We are mourning with you and the American people,' the Embassy claimed.
Ukrainian diplomats called McCain, as one of the greatest friends of Ukraine and American hero.
'His immense contribution to Ukraine’s freedom and democracy will never be forgotten. Senator McCain’s joining the Ukrainian people on Maidan in Kyiv in winter 2013, traveling to Donbas with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the New Year's Eve 2016 to lift the spirit of the Ukrainian soldiers,' reads the message of the Ukrainian Embassy.
Along with the Ukrainian Embassy, Petro Poroshenko expressed his condolences to the family of the Senator. The Leader of the State claimed this on Facebook.
'We will never forget his invaluable contribution to the development of democracy and freedom in Ukraine and the support of our state. The Senator was with the Ukrainians on the Maidan and kept up the spirit of the Ukrainian military in the Donbass. - Condolences to the family and all American people. We grieve together with you ...' reads the message.
Glioblastoma was found out during his surgery to remove hematoma under his eye in July 2017. In the same month, he underwent a surgery on his brain and was back at his work in the U.S. Senate. Later, he claimed reporters that the doctors gave low chances of surviving.
This is why Senator John McCain who has been diagnosed with brain cancer last year, decided to terminate his treatment.
