President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky once again claimed that Ukraine's ambitious sport goal is to host Olympic Games. The head of the state said so during his working trip to Donetsk region, where he participated in the opening of Mariupol Ice Center arena. Press department of the Office of the President reported that on late Thursday.
"One needs to understand what kind of steps must be taken, and these must be taken very fast. If it costs a lot, then one has to consider joint efforts, hosting [the Games] with another country", Zelensky said.
According to him, hosting the Olympics will be of symbolic meaning, and will attract foreign tourists to Ukraine.
He added that the government will be developing infrastructure so as to develop tourism in Ukraine.
Olena Hovorova, the prize winner of Olympics who represented Ukraine in the 1990s, supported the President's initiative, claiming that hosting the world-class level sport competition would be the best presentation of our country.
