The Supreme Commercial Court of Ukraine denied the cassation of Russian state-run company Gazprom; the Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine ruled that the Russian gas monopolist abused power. Under the December 2016 and February 2017 court decisions, Gazprom is to pay fine in the amount of USD 6.7 billion.

The Russian gas company received the notification about the decision by the Ukrainian court on March 4, 2016; that is, Gazprom was supposed to pay fire by May 4, 2016.

In April 2016, the Russian side asked the Supreme Commercial Court of Ukraine to hold the Committee’s decision invalid. However, the court did not even consider Gazprom’s appeal.
