Ukrainian Foreign Ministry turned to France, asking to respond to the illegal visit of French delegation of MEPs headed by Thierry Mariani, as they plan to go to Russia-annexed Crimea. The press office of the Ministry reported that on June 30.
First Deputy Minister Emine Dzheparova asked French ambassador in Ukraine to make it clear for the French officials.
"Etienne de Poncins, on his part, confirmed Paris's unwavering stance in support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and promised to pass Emine Dzheparova's appeal to French Foreign Ministry, concerning the visit of French MPs of European Parliament to Crimea," the Ministry reported.
The parties pointed out it was crucial to combine efforts to counter the Russian information war, which threatens Ukraine's sovereignty. Besides, the officials discussed preparations for the forthcoming visit of French leader Emmanuel Macron in Kyiv.
Dzheparova also asked the French side to consider an option to assist Ukrainian regions that suffered from recent severe floods.
