On March 16, Ukraine temporarily closed about a hundred checkpoints and banned entry into Ukraine for foreigners. It was reported by the press service of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.
"As of 00:00 on March 16, 2020, about a hundred checkpoints are temporarily closed, almost half a hundred checkpoints temporarily suspend pedestrian traffic. Checkpoints that have high traffic capacity will continue operating. A sufficient number of them operate at the border with each neighboring country for the registration, control and verification of citizens and transport in the conditions of restricted international movement (because all neighboring countries are imposing their restrictive measures)," the message reads.
Entry into Ukraine for foreigners and stateless persons is also temporarily prohibited.
As we reported earlier, on the night of March 17, Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) will completely stop international railway transportation. The Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy wrote about this on his Facebook page.
The running of trains stops until the end of the quarantine period caused by the outbreak of coronavirus, or until the adoption of relevant government decrees.
