Ukraine has challenged the credentials of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). This was reported by Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.
"Yes! A sufficient number of Assembly delegates have supported us! The credentials of the Russian delegation have been officially challenged," he wrote.
The official added that the Ukrainian delegation had been supported in that matter by 38 delegates out of the required 30.
Honcharenko also noted that the appeal would be considered by a special monitoring committee that was expected to prepare a report.
As we reported earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda has called on the European Union to strengthen sanctions against Russia, following the detention of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
“The only way to (avoid conflict) is to force international law to be observed. The only way to do this without rifles, cannons, and bombs is via sanctions. So we are ready to help build consensus on that issue,” the statement said.
