It is impossible for Ukraine to receive guarantees under the Budapest Memorandum due to the fact that this document is not an international agreement. This was stated by German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

"The Budapest Memorandum is a political declaration and nothing more, it is not an international agreement ... It is a political declaration, that is, it is simply impossible to receive these guarantees," she said.

Anka Feldgusen said that Germany was working with the United States, Britain, and Canada, informing them of the efforts to resolve the conflict in Donbas. She believes that it is much more important to enlist their support than to expand the Normandy format.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that he will be able to conclude a peace agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which, in turn, will allow Ukraine to return Donbas and Crimea.

"I believe in this! Otherwise, I would run for the post of president of Ukraine. It is very difficult and we need the help of the whole world, but I do not lose faith," he stated.
