As of today, Ukraine has an opportunity to produce up to 700,000 doses of Sputnik-V vaccine per month. Viktor Medvedchuk, the MP and the Chairman of Political Board of Opposition Platform - For Life party said so during the meeting with Kirill Dmitriev, the General Director of Russian fund of direct investments and Akeksandr Gintsburg, the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology director. NewsOne quoted him as saying.
"Production of Sputnik V vaccine from coronavirus in Ukraine. It's a very important and hallmark event for Ukraine. And, like I said, as I asked President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, he charged everyone to work on this issue and report the opportunities of vaccine production in Ukraine", he said.
According to him, "today we're summing up, and there's a decision made about this opportunity existing. We've got the industrial capacity. You've seen the video footage, which confirms that there's an opportunity to produce the vaccine on the territory of Ukraine, at the Biolic enterprise in Kharkiv city. Besides, representatives of Russian fund of direct investments and Gamalei Centre approved the transfer of the technology to Ukraine for production, as well as provision of raw materials for production of this vaccine", he said.
"Currently, the topic lies with the following fact: this enterprise can start vaccine production - at least for export to third countries; but our key task, my key task as Ukraine's representative (...) is to make sure that such production takes place in Ukraine - in the interests of Ukrainian citizens", the politician said.
Medvedchuk added that the issue of due registration and licensing in respective state authorities is on the table now.
