Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba does not exclude that Ukraine will receive a vaccine from China. Negotiations between the two countries are currently underway on this issue. The minister stated this in an interview with Ukraine 24 TV channel, according to Interfax.
"They (China - ed.) are ready to supply it," Kuleba said.
According to him, the Ministry of Health possesses specific information. Now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is helping this department to establish contacts with representatives of the manufacturer.
On December 23, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed Law No. 1075-IX, which creates conditions for ensuring access of the Ukrainian population to safe, high-quality and effective vaccines against COVID-19.
Health Minister Maxym Stepanov said that mass vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine could begin in February next year.
The mass vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine might start in February 2021. However, it depends on how fast vaccine is supplied as Health Minister of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov reported.
According to him, in the first quarter of 2021, 8 million doses of vaccine should be supplied to Ukraine. Stepanov noted that the vaccines will be supplied in Ukraine in tranches. The first tranche will make 2 million doses. However, the Health Ministry is currently working on the increase of quota twice, from 8 million doses to 16 million doses. The minister added that the Medical Procurements of Ukraine is appointed as the operator that will hold a technical function on the purchase and supply of the vaccines.
Maksym Stepanov said that the Health Ministry has developed a road map for implementation of vaccines and holding of mass vaccination in Ukraine in 2021-2022. Today, Stepanov plans to sign an order that launches this road map. It will be possible to familiarize with the vaccination plan after the signing of this map.
