Ukraine has blocked the UN Security Council statement on the recent Vitaly Churkin’s passing away. This was announced by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry.

Note that earlier, the UN Security Council commented on the death of Vitaly Churkin, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, calling him a “prominent Russian diplomat” in an official statement

This statement is signed by the SC President, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations Volodymyr Yelchenko.

Previously, Yelchenko himself commented on the death, saying that Vitaly Churkin had fully supported the official position of his country. “It would be wrong to think that his personal role in his position differed from that of the Russian Federation,” – said Yelchenko.
