A joint declaration on deepening strategic partnership and a number of other bilateral documents were signed following talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Kyiv as the President’s Office reported.

The leaders signed a declaration that records the main agreements reached as a result of today's meetings. The document confirms the readiness of the parties to deepen the strategic partnership, particularly through the implementation of specific projects in areas of mutual interest. Among other things, to ensure peace and stability in the Black Sea-Caspian Sea region and beyond.

"We have signed a joint declaration of the Presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan. It enshrines the readiness to provide mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states within the internationally recognized borders, joint opposition to hybrid threats, the desire to ensure peace and stability in the Black Sea-Caspian Sea region and beyond it," Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The joint declaration stipulates agreements to provide mutual support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two states within their internationally recognized borders; an intention to intensify bilateral substantive cooperation in political and security, trade and economic, fuel and energy, military and technical, infrastructure, transport, aircraft, agro-industrial, cultural and humanitarian and other spheres. Readiness for cooperation in counteracting hybrid threats is also defined; further strengthening of cooperation in defense industry by completing current and developing new joint projects; direct mention of intentions to deepen cooperation within international and regional organizations and forums, in particular the UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, GUAM, BSEC is also mentioned.

A number of other agreements were also signed. In particular, they signed: an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of food safety; memorandums of understanding between the Ministries of Economy on cooperation in bilateral trade, on cooperation in the agricultural sector, on land relations; Naftogaz of Ukraine and the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, head of the SOCAR oil company signed a memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector.

"We are ready for cooperation in all spheres and again, I want to repeat that all this cooperation is based on our strong friendship. I am making this visit today at the beginning of a new year and I hope that it will bring good results, both in the bilateral dimension and in the broader sense of our cooperation in the future. Thank you Mr. President for the invitation and I take this opportunity to invite you to Baku", President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said.

We remind that trade turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan for the first time in seven years reached a record figure - almost $1 billion. This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint statement with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev after the meeting.
