Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin met with the Vatican Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin and asked him for support in freeing Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia and occupied Crimea. Klimkin said this during a briefing in Kyiv, liga.net reports.
“I discussed the issue of Ukraine’s political prisoners in Russia and Crimea with Pietro Parolin, not more than a few minutes ago. I asked him to use the resources and connections of the catholic church to extradite prisoners to Ukraine”, he said.
The Minister also added that there are 12 Ukrainian political prisoners now in Russia.
