Ukraine requested Tehran to pass the flight recorders from the crashed Boeing 737. Press service of Prosecutor General's Office reported that on January 15.
"Prosecutor General's Office and the State Security Service turned to competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, asking for legal assistance related to the passage of flight recorders of Boeing 737 of Ukraine's International Airlines, which was conducting flight PS752 from Tehran to Kyiv and was downed by the Iranian military", reads the message.
The Ukrainian government states intention to provide due decryption of the flight recorders.
Earlier, Ukraine's envoy in the U.S. Volodymyr Yelchenko sees no need in calling the UN Security Council session in regard to the crash of Ukraine's Boeing 737 over Tehran. The Ukrainian diplomat said so at a briefing in Washington. "In case Iran did not accept its guilt, perhaps we would have to turn to the UN Security Council. But since the situation developed quite dynamically, I just can't see what's the goal of those who believe there's a need to convene UN Security Council", he said. Yelchenko added that on January 9, Ukraine already brought up this issue. Then, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia read the special statement on the behalf of Ukraine, Germany, Canada and Sweden, some of the countries that lost their citizens in the tragedy.
