The statement notes that the decision of the EU Council on September 14 extends the existing restrictions until March 15, 2018. The countries that have joined it will do everything to ensure that their national policies are consistent with it.

On September 14, the EU Council officially extended "targeted" sanctions for half a year against officials from the Russian Federation, insurgents of illegal armed groups and legal entities involved in the aggression against Ukraine in Crimea and Donbas. These measures include, inter alia, asset freezing and travel bans.
