Soon, Ukraine and Canada are intended to start negotiations about the expansion of the Free Trade Agreement. Andriy Shevchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Canada claimed this on the of Radio NV.
‘I think it is time for expanding the Free Trade Agreement in the areas of services and investments. This is the next step, I think, and we even run late with the start of these talks… In the coming months, I think till October, we will start negotiations about the expansion of the scope of the Agreement,’ Andriy Shevchenko claimed.
According to him, there is a preliminary agreement that First Vice-Prime-Minister, Minister of the Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv to visit Canada to hold the bilateral meeting of the commission, which administrates the Free Trade Agreement.
The Ambassador stressed that Canada is interested in anything associated with the IT.
‘This is a very powerful realm for our cooperation. As of now, major Canadian companies transmit serious orders to Ukrainian software engineers. It is about thousands of Ukrainian programmers who are involved in the coding of software for Canadian companies. The Agreement should forge the better conditions for that,’ Andriy Shevchenko stressed.
Reportedly, the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada came into force on August 1, 2017.
