The military of the U.K. considered the possibility of the holding of the extensive cyber-attack against Russia, in case, if the Russian Federation “assaults West countries” as The Sunday Times reported citing the high-level sources in the defense sphere.
The sources say that they are concerned about the inequality of opportunity between Russia and the U.K. due to which the command has not enough weapons against Kremlin’s aggression, excluding the launch of “Trident” missiles with the nuclear device.
In the result, the officials of the British government “promised to develop its offensive cyber-potential, including the possibility to “turn off light” in Kremlin.”
According to the newspaper, the developing of the cyber-potential will provide more possibilities to the U.K. in countering Russia. The newspaper lists the seizure of “small islands owned by Estonia,” invasion of Libya “to get control over the oil reserves and begin a new migration crisis in Europe” and the use of “the irregular forces to start the attack on the British troops or endanger new British aircraft carrier” as the possible variants of the Russian attack.
Earlier, the Netherlands announced the prevention of Russia’s cyber-attack at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and accused Russian Main Intelligence Directorate officers (GRU) of trying to get the information from the international investigation of the MH17 tragedy.
Also, Germany has joined the British and the Dutch authorities in accusing Russia of instigating massive international cyber-attacks.
