The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom accused the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU) of the organization of the "non-selective and reckless" cyber-attacks all over the world that aim against the political institutes, business, media, and sports as Bloomberg reported.
The National Cyber Security Centre of the U.K. (NCSC) emphasis that Russia's GRU "acting under the names Fancy Bear, Pawnstorm and Tsar Team almost certainly" responsible for the number of serious hacker attacks on the countries, including the U.S., the U.K. and Russia itself.
The cyber-attack on the Democratic National Committee in 2016 is one of them.
"The GRU’s actions are reckless and indiscriminate: they try to undermine and interfere in elections in other countries; they are even prepared to damage Russian companies and Russian citizens,” Jeremy Hunt, the U.K. Foreign Secretary claimed.
"We along with our allies will disclose and respond to the GRU attempts to subvert the world stability," he emphasized.
Earlier NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the alliance was helping to create a centre on the protection of the cyberspace from interference and break-in in Ukraine.
Also, the unknown spread fake messages with malware among Ukrainian State institutions allegedly from Anti-Terrorist Centre about mining the government facilities.
