UK accuses Russia of cyber attacks

Russian hackers attacked the British mass media, telecommunications and energetics

The United Kingdom accused Russia of the cyber attacks at the mass media, telecommunications and energetics during 2016. Reuters reported this citing the data of the National Cyber Security Center.

According to Ciaran Martin, the Director of the center, the experts spotted a few cases of the interference of the Russian hackers into the functioning of the different spheres.

'I can confirm that the interference of Russia observed by the National Cyber Security Center last year includes the attacks on the British mass media, telecommunications and energetics', Martin claimed.

He also added that the British authorities actively cooperate with the international partners to solve this issue. However, Martin did not provide the particular evidence of the crack of the electric power system by Russian hackers and their interference into other infrastructure objects.

Earlier Theresa May, the Prime Minister of the UK claimed that Russia attempts to sabotage the free communities by the cyber attacks and cyber spying.
