“You know, what our country is famous for? It is famous for every election in Ukraine end up in the opposite way from what the authorities wanted, not in the way the political players want, but in the way how the people decide. And that is our unique heritage even against our economic and social problems. A year ago no one could say who is going to become a president. Now that's for sure, and no one can arrogate himself the right to say who is going to be chosen by the people as a prime minister,” Tymoshenko said.
According to her, the Batkivshchyna faction is ready to participate in real and profound transformations in Ukraine.
“Our team takes part in parliamentary elections. If we are a subjeсt to parliamentary elections, this means that we can and we have something to offer the country to take strong steps and we want to take part in real and profound transformations in the country. This exactly proofs our parliamentary campaign,” Tymoshenko noted.
We (the Batkivshchyna, - ed.) are struggling for the support of people and for the right to bring to life the new course that we had been working off step by step. That is why, a lot of things depend on the people. Let’s not run ahead, if people trust their striving, their dreams to the political forces and these forces get into the parliament, everything will be decided there based on the choice of people,” she added.
On May 24, the electoral process kicked off in Ukraine. The elections are scheduled on July 21, 2019.
According to the Ukrainian legislation, the electoral process of snap elections begins on the next day after the President’s decree on early termination of the mandate of Verkhovna Rada and appointment of the new elections is published. Therefore, the electoral process starts on May 24, without the Central Commission making any decisions.
