The SBU, Security Service of Ukraine detained two recruits of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB). They collected secret data about the armament of Ukrainian army. The SBU's press office reported that on February 12.
"SBU counter-intelligence agents exposed two Ukrainian citizens recruited by the FSB of the Russian Federation. They conpleted tasks, collecting secret information about combat readiness and supply capacities of Ukraine's Armed Forces", reads the message.
The exposed culprits had a mission to lay their hands on secret documents, which revealed information about new weaponry and combat vehicles in the Ukrainian military during the ongoing Operation of Joint Forces in Donbas. They were also supposed to learn about prospects of re-armament of units of Ukrainian army.
The busted FSB recruits were detained during the controlled passage of secret documents and the attempt to hande them over to the Russian side.
The culprits face suspicion of state treason.
