The police of Minsk detained two reporters of ORF, the Austrian TV and radio broadcaster. The Foreign Ministry of Austria immediately protested against this move, Interfax reported.

"Austrian Foreign Ministry confirms that Austrian reporter and her cameraman were apprehended by Belarusian police yesterday; they confirmed their identities. Austria immediately protested against these actions", Austrian diplomat said.

Vienna urges the Belarusian government to let the reporters go.

Vesna human rights protection centre claimed that the journalists interviewed people in the streets; they were apprehended by agents in civilian outfits. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

The official authorities of Minsk deny the fact of detention of Austrian reporters.
