A new air incident between China and the United States occurred over the South China Sea - two Chinese fighters intercepted the US Air Force reconnaissance aircraft. This is reported by the Reuters agency referring to US officials.

"The US P-3 Orion, which also can carry out reconnaissance, was in the international airspace 240 km southeast of Hong Kong, when the Chinese Air Force carried out an unsafe interception operation, with one Chinese fighter flying in front of the P-3 Orion, limiting its ability to maneuver, "- said in a statement.

It is noted that the incident occurred on May 24.

The Pentagon confirmed the fact of the interception, noting that it was made "in unsafe and unprofessional way."

In turn, the Ministry of Defense of China stated that the interception was carried out professionally, and also added that the US should refrain from such risky actions.
