The authorities of Poland and Ukraine must come to a new approach in the relationship. the President of the European Council Donald Tusk stated this during the press conference following the EU-Ukraine summit, as 112 Ukraine TV channel reports.

"The independence of Ukraine and security of Poland and the whole region depend tremendously on the relationship between Kyiv and Warsaw. Recent tensions show that not all have learned the lessons of history. Only complete solidarity between Ukraine and Poland can save us in the future from the repetition of a tragic history. I call both countries to a new approach to the issues in our relations and to positive thinking. Only our opponents or political fools can strive for a conflict between us, "he said.

It is noteworthy that at first Tusk made a statement in Ukrainian, and then repeated it in Polish.

As it was reported earlier, Ukraine and Poland have to cooperate on the question on exhumation of the citizens who died in the World War II and during the post-war period, as Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated answering the question about the results of the Polish-Ukrainian excavations in Hruszowice in the place of the destroyed monument to Ukrainian Insurgent Army officers in Poland.

He noted that he was ready to come to any place where Polish people died and commemorate them, but he expects such actions from Poland as well.
