Turkish military landed a retaliatory strike on the emplacements of Bashaar al-Assad's forces in Idlib, Syria. It came as the act of revenge for the deaths of more than 30 Turkish troops in that province. Fahrettin Altun, the Head of Department for Public Relations of Turkish President said so as quoted by Anadolu.
"The famous targets of [Assad's] regime are hit, and they will be attacked on and on, on the ground and from the air", Altun said.
He called on the parties of the Astana process to live up to commitments that the entire international society took upon itself, so as to stop the atrocities of the Syrian regime.
"We stand by our NATO ally Turkey and continue to call for an immediate end to this despicable offensive by the Assad regime, Russia and Iranian-backed forces", a representative of the U.S. Department of the State said.
Washington considers options on how to support Turkey in this crisis in the best possible way.
