Next year, the Turkish government will ship to Ukraine FM-band tactical communication systems. The respective agreement was signed during the visit of Turkish leader Recep Tayip Erdogan to Kyiv on Monday. Interfax Ukraine news agency reported that, citing the source in Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
According to the source, the deal was signed by representatives of Ukroboronprom, Ukraine’s leading enterprise and Aselsan, the Turkish defense company. The contract is worth 43,635 million U.S. dollars.
Aselsan is Turkey’s leading manufacturer and supplier of defense electronics, communication and IT systems, drones, naval equipment, as well as anti-air defense weaponry and missile launchers.
Previously, Aselsan shipped to Ukraine a pilot batch of band tactical communication systems, which was foreseen by the deals signed in 2016-2017.
On Monday, Turkish president Erdogan came to Ukraine for visit and negotiations with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko. The two leaders agreed to increase the trade turnover between their countries and signed a number of other agreements.
