Turkey is going to support Azerbaijan both during peace talks and on the battlefield. Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said so after his negotiation with Deputy Leader of Justice and Development Party of Turkey Numan Kurtulmus and Azeri Ambassador in Turkey Khazar Ibrahim. Anadolu agency quoted him as saying.
"We want the issue to be solved sheerly. We put a lot of effort into this, but all in vain. We've been always standing with Azerbaijan, both on the battlefied and in negotiations. We'll carry on with this solidarity", the diplomat said.
He claimed that Armenia and Azerbaijan were in totally different conditions within this conflict.
"We support territorial integrity of Ukraine and Georgia all together. But people consign Azerbaijan to Armenia, which occupied its lands. And it's unacceptable", Çavuşoğlu said.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
