Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's spokesman İbrahim Kalın discussed global and regional issues involving the situation around Ukraine with US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan by telephone, BirGun reports.

"Details of a joint strategic mechanism agreed between Turkey and the United States were discussed. It was stated that the Ukrainian crisis should be resolved through dialogue and cooperation, and that Turkey is ready to contribute to this in every possible way," the statement reads.

In a dialogue with Sullivan, Kalın stressed the importance that Turkey attaches to the protection of Ukraine's territorial integrity.

As it was reported, the first round of talks between the United States and Russia ended in Geneva on the evening of January 9. The meeting lasted two hours. The second round of dialogue began on January 10 and lasted more than 7.5 hours. The meeting took place at the US Permanent Mission in Geneva. During the consultations, the parties took a break several times.
