Turkey has begun the construction of the naval base on the coast of the Black Sea, as Milliyet reported.

According to the news agency, the project has become particularly relevant due to the Russian aggression in Kerch Strait and the opening of the TurkStream pipeline. However, the plans for the creation of the base existed since the Cold War and the workout of the project has begun in July 2017.

The authorities expect that the base, which ships will patrol the eastern part of the Black Sea, will give impetus for the development of whole north-east Turkey.

This object will become the ninth base of the Turkish Naval Forces. 400 soldiers and 200 civilian experts will work there.
