Turkish President Recep Erdogan reiterated that he is ready to provide support and offer mediation between Ukraine and Russia amid the activity of Russian troops near the Ukrainian borders as Anadolu reported.
"Ankara opposes further escalation of the situation around Ukraine and in defense of stability in the region. We are ready to make a feasible contribution to the formation of channels of dialogue in order to reduce the tension that has taken place in recent weeks between Kyiv and Moscow. Turkey is certainly ready to take steps without delay to maintain peace in our region,” Erdogan said.
Erdogan stressed that there can be any format of cooperation.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his readiness to act as a mediator in negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on reducing tensions in relations. However, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that there is no issue about any mediating role of Turkey in the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
