US president National Security Advisor, Herbert McMaster, explained why the United States can begin selling lethal weapons to Ukraine, MSNBC reports.

According to McMaster, the interests of the United States include increasing the defense capacity of Ukraine to prevent "intrusion into its territory."

He also added that for Washington it does not matter what kind of help will be rendered to Kyiv.

"The point is, what kind of support is needed for Ukraine, which will meet our interests and desire to ensure that Russia does not take further actions to destabilize the situation," he said.

We recall that earlier NBC News, citing three sources, reported that the Pentagon sent a letter to the White House with a recommendation to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons, namely high-tech anti-tank weapons Javelin.
