The issue started during a rally in Huntsville, Alabama, on Friday where president singled out NFL players who, along with predominantly African-American athletes from the world of professional baseball and basketball, have begun to kneel in protest at the rise in racial and social tensions in the US.
President of the United States Donald Trump urged fans of American football not to attend the matches of the National Football League (NFL) until the players "begin to respect the flag and the country", reports The Telegraph.
With the appropriate appeal, he spoke in his Twitter.
"If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting our Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend!," he wrote.

Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, you'd say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He's fired.'"
