US President Donald Trump promised Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko United States won’t lift sanctions on Russia until it pulls out of Ukraine. It happened during the National Prayer Breakfast on January 2, according to Politico.
Trump assured Tymoshenko that sanctions won’t be lifted until Russian stops hostilities against Ukraine.
Despite the fact that Trump stressed that he planned to ease sanctions against Russia, imposed for aggression in Ukraine, during his election campaign, he pledged Tymoshenko he won’t do it.
The White House refused to comment of the meeting, however noted that the President and former Ukrainian Prime Minister had a short informal encounter, while the US is still concerned with the violence in Eastern Ukraine.
As it was reported earlier, White House spokesman said the American administration approves Ambassador Haley's speech in the UN and confirmed continuation of sanctions.
