U.S. President Donald Trump criticized House's of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi for holding off on sending the articles of impeachment against him to the Senate, Reuters reports.
“It’s so unfair, they are violating the Constitution,” Trump said, calling Pelosi “crazy Nancy”.
Pelosi, on the other hand, is willing to secure the fair process in the Senate trial.
“Until the House gets a clearer picture of what a Senate trial will look like, the Speaker will not be in the position to appoint managers and take the next steps in holding this President accountable and ensuring the Senate fulfills its constitutional duty,” Pelosi’s office said in an official statement.
As we reported earlier, on November 18, U.S. House of Representatives has impeached Donald Trump in a historic vote.
House approved both articles of impeachment: Trump was accused of abusing his power by asking Ukrainian officials to announce investigations into Bidens, which would benefit his reelection, and of obstructing Congress in its impeachment inquiry.
