Kostiantyn Yelisieiev, Deputy Head of the Administration of Ukraine’s President, stated that Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, might meet with the U.S. President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly, as BBC News Ukraine reported.
“As of today, the program of the participation of Ukraine’s President is being developed as the American one. No final confirmation on the participation or time frames of Donald Trump’s stay in the General Assembly were made. As soon as we receive all the confirmations, we will consider all the possible options,” he said.
According to him, Poroshenko is preparing to the events in the UN General Assembly, bilateral meetings are scheduled, along with his participation in the general-political debates. In particular, on September 26 he is to deliver a speech. Poroshenko will also have a meeting with the flagships of the global business.
It should be noted that the 73rd UN General Assembly will be opened on September 18. It is expected that Ukraine will propose to discuss the issue of Crimea’s occupation and the destiny of the Ukrainian political prisoners.
Earlier, the last meeting of Trump and Poroshenko was held in July 2018 in Brussels. According to the Ukrainian President, they discussed Nord Stream 2.
