President of the U.S. Donald Trump stated that he would like to invite President of Russia Vladimir Putin to G7 summit, as the White House reported.

Trump added that he plans to hold summit after the presidential elections in the U.S.

“We have invited a number of people to the meeting. I certainly would invite him (Vladimir Putin, - 112.international) to the meeting. I think he’s an important factor. We will invite certain people who are not part of the G-7. Some people have already accepted,” Trump said.

May 30, U.S. President Donald Trump said he postponed a Group of Seven summit, he hoped to hold next month until September (or later) and expand the list of invited countries to include Australia, Russia, South Korea, and India.

Russia was expelled from what was then the G8 in 2014 when Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, was U.S. president after Moscow annexed the Crimea region from Ukraine. Russia still holds the territory, and various G7 governments have rebuffed previous calls from Trump to readmit Moscow.
