It is noted that in the country, due to the spread of a new type of coronavirus, 20 million people remain on unemployment benefits.

The bans, which were issued in April and June, were set to expire on December 31, but will be extended until March 31, 2021, the latest in a series of last-gasp immigration moves by the outgoing Trump administration.

A broad range of businesses oppose the ban on certain foreign workers.

President-elect Joe Biden has also criticized the restrictions, but has not yet said whether he would immediately reverse them.

In April 2020, US President Donald Trump announced that the flow of immigrants to the United States would be suspended for at least 60 days. The decision was made to protect American workers who have lost their jobs due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
