The US president Donald Trump commented on the mass protests, which took place the day after his inauguration.

"Watched protests yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election! Why didn't these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly," wrote Trump on his page on Twitter.

At the same time Trump emphasized that peaceful protests are a distinctive feature of American democracy. "Even if I do not always agree, I acknowledge the right of people to express their opinion", he said.
