Putin started the press conference. He said that the Cold War is a thing of the past.
Later, Trump also noted that the two countries had to work together to address the world problems.
“The disagreements between our two countries are well-known and president Putin and I discussed them at length today,” Trump said.
“Even during the tensions of the Cold War, when the world looked much different than it does today, Russia and the US were able to maintain a strong dialogue. Our relationship has never been worse than it is now. However, that changed. As of about four hours ago,” he said.
As it was reported earlier, Donald Trump described his one-on-one meeting with the Russian President Putin as a “good start."
Trump made the brief remarks in front of reporters, at a conference table surrounded by top officials at the start of a “working lunch” that began after he and Putin met behind closed doors for two hours with only their interpreters.
According to the schedule, further, the talks are to be held in an expanded membership. It will take an hour and 45 minutes.
