It is a good time for the U.S. government to officially recognize the Holodomor of 1932-1933 an act of genocide against the Ukrainian nation. Valeriy Chaly, the U.S. ambassador in Ukraine, posted this on Facebook.
‘Traditionally, thousands of caring citizens gathered at St. Patrick’s cathedral in New York to honor the memory of those innocently killed during the man-made famine in 1932-1933, designed and conducted by Stalin’s regime. We now know that Ukrainians rose against this crime to protect their families – and they were destroyed for that,’ the ambassador wrote. ‘Next year, we will go to the U.S. Congress – for the truth and justice to prevail, and we’ll struggle for the respective resolution to be passed.’
Thus, Chaly referred to the last year’s attempt to pass the resolution, which would confirm the U.S. official recognition of the Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainians.
