US President to be Donald Trump's secretary of state nominee, Rex Tillerson, on Wednesday voices concerns about Russia's actions on the world stage, reports Reuters.

Rex Tillerson, the wealthy former CEO of Exxon-Mobil Corp., who was suspected of being excessively loyal to Russia, suddenly expressed concern about the actions of the country and said that it should be held to account. Tillerson said this during the Senate hearing on January 11.

"Our NATO allies are right to be alarmed at a resurgent Russia," Tillerson said. "But it was in the absence of American leadership that this door was left open and unintended signals were sent."

"We backtracked on commitments we made to allies. We sent weak or mixed signals with 'red lines' that turned into green lights. We did not recognize that Russia does not think like we do," Tillerson says.

Earlier it was reported that Obama promised to give Trump space in his final address. The U.S. President held speech at McCormick Place, Chicago.
