Russia has clearly demonstrated that it intends to continue to maintain a brutal regime in Syria. This is offensive, but, unfortunately, expected. This was stated by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson after the end of the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, convened to discuss the US attack on the air base of the Syrian government forces, the Air Force reports.
"This means continuing support for the Assad regime, which carries out terrible attacks on its own citizens," Tillerson said.
"I consider this very annoying, but, unfortunately, I should note, it is quite expected," he added.
Let us remind, the United States responded to the chemical attack with a massive missile attack on the troops of Assad in Syria. The US Navy fired 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of 2,000 km at the military airfield of Al-Shayrat near the province of Homs. Exactly from this airfield a chemical attack was carried out. It resulted in the death of 27 children. US President Donald Trump said that the air strike was a response to the heinous actions of Syrian President Bashar Assad, who used chemical weapons.
