Independence Party is leading in the early parliamentary election in Iceland, according to Reuters.

According to the preliminary information, the party received about 25% of votes. The Left-Greens came in second with 17%.

The Independence Party has dominated Iceland’s politics for decades. It wants to reduce the national debt and cut taxes on individuals and businesses. The party won 21 seats in elections a year ago.
