The United States of America provided additional financial support to Ukraine in the amount of $ 155 million to develop and improve the living standards of Ukrainians. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The Cabinet of Ministers noted that the funds will be directed to support the economy, fight corruption and counter Russian aggression.
In particular, the largest part of the funds, $ 63 million, should be used to counter Russian aggression. The money will go, among other things, to protect human rights and ensure access to justice for Ukrainians who have suffered from the war; reducing the energy and economic dependence of Ukraine on Russia; strengthening of Ukrainian enterprises in the east of Ukraine; expanding citizens' access to quality and objective information.
To strengthen democracy and governance, $ 44 million will be allocated. In particular, for these funds, they plan to expand judicial reform in order to develop a more independent system that guarantees observance of the rule of law and equal access to justice; to strengthen the newly created united territorial communities and to ensure the wider provision of quality services to residents to help advance the decentralization reform.
Also, 34 million dollars will be allocated to support economic growth and improve the health of Ukrainians, including the restoration of Ukraine after the pandemic, improving the quality of basic medical services; increasing transparency and expanding economic opportunities in the energy, agriculture and financial industries; land market development;
$ 14 million will be allocated to improve anti-corruption measures. The funds will be used to support reforms and ensure the protection of anti-corruption institutions; reducing the volume of corruption in the health sector; providing assistance to Ukraine in the procurement of essential medicines, as well as supporting the further development of e-government platforms.
On April 6, it was reported that for the period from 2004 to 2020, the United States provided Ukraine with more than 68 million dollars for the destruction of old small arms of light weapons, ammunition, as well as clearing the war zone on its territory.
