Deputy head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov on the air of 112 Ukraine stated that tension in Crimea increases and repressions were intensified.

Answering the question whether citizens of temporarily occupied Crimea mark this day (second anniversary of Crimean Tatars' rally in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine) and what the situation on the peninsula looks like, Ilmi Umerov said:

"Given the fact that in recent years situation on the peninsula was very tense, we decided not to conduct special events to this anniversary.

We gladly look at what is happening in the world - in Ankara and Kyiv. And when you list countries, you can enumerate Moscow, because there was a march dedicated to Nemtsov. And in parallel, within it there was a column in support of Ukraine called for the release of its political prisoners in Russia."

"The trend, unfortunately, is still present, the tension only increases, repressions are only strengthening, and each time they come up with more and more options," said Umerov.
