Last week, ten people died in Ukraine due to complications of the flu. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.
Thus, in the period from February 10 to February 16, 245 thousand 55 people became ill with ARVI.
"Ten fatal influenza cases, confirmed by PCR (polymerase chain reaction – ed.), were reported in a week. Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 38 people have died from complications of the flu," the message reads.
In addition, there is a wide geographical spread of influenza in Ukraine. Non-epidemic activity levels remain in Kharkiv, Luhansk and Kyiv.
"Exceeding of the epidemic threshold for influenza does not signal the start of an influenza epidemic. Most often, this is typical for a winter season and an epidemic rise is expected," the statement said.
As we reported earlier, according to the Centre for Public Health of Ukraine's Ministry of Health, current influenza and ARVI morbidity rate in Ukraine has exceeded the epidemic threshold by 55.6 percent.
26 lab-confirmed lethal cases have been observed since October 2019. 236,343 people got inoculated against the flu.
