Taras Kozak, MP from Opposition Bloc becomes the owner of the corporate rights of NewsOne TV channel. MP Yevgeniy Muraiev reported this on Facebook.
‘My comrade and colleague Taras Kozak became the owner of the corporal rights of NewsOne TV channel. Wish him and his collective success and growth,’ Muraiev claimed.
Principal Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Portnov, former owner of the channel confirmed the information on the change of the channel leadership.
‘I can’t affect the decision about the ownership restructure and don’t think it is right to speak out about its feasibility and possible consequences. In connection with this, I have initiated the avoidance of the contract on the management of NewsOne,’ Portnov claimed this on Facebook.
Taras Kozak was a deputy of Lviv Regional Council before his election to the Ukrainian Parliament. Also, from 1993 through 2010, he was working in tax and customs authorities and reached the position of a deputy head of State Customs Services. It is also mentioned that Kozak is a member of the Coordinating Council of All-Ukrainian public movement “Ukrainian choice”, which is connected with the former head of the Presidential Administration Viktor Medvedchuk.
NewsOne TV channel is a news channel, which started broadcasting on the territory of Ukraine in 2010. The channel took the third place by popularity in Ukraine at the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016.
Since the establishment, NewsOne belonged to Rudolf Kyrnos, owner of Eu Music, then the 50 percent of the shares went to Vadim Rabinovich. MP Yevhen Muraiev owned the channel from 2014. Volodymyr Muraiev became the owner on May 31, 2018. At the end of August 2018, former principal deputy head of the Presidential Administration Andriy Portnov claimed that Volodymyr, father of the MP Yevhen Muraiev transferred him the management of the NewsOne TV channel.
The staff of 112 Ukraine TV channel insists that the steps made by the Ukrainian Parliament, which aim to apply sanctions against 112 Ukraine TV channel are nothing but a political decision; there is not enough evidence to make such decision, which badly lacks argumentation and may be considered unconstitutional.
